Marriage and Divorce Records

The County Clerk of Jefferson County, TX, maintains records of Texas marriages, and divorce records are available from the district clerk.

The Vital Statistics Section of the County maintains divorce records. Texas divorces have been maintained in public indexes since 1968. It is recommended that you check public indexes available to verify that divorce is available. Contact the district clerk in the district where your divorce was granted.

Marriage license-certified copies are only available from the county clerk. Certified copies of either marriages or divorces must be obtained in the county or district where they were initially filed. Order online at Texas.gov dshs.texas.gov/vital-statistics/marriage-divorce records.
