The County Clerk’s Office is working to digitize all records to help with the available information. Some information is still stored in books, on microfilm or paper, and is only available directly from the Clerk’s Office.

Criminal court records are found online by using the search tool. You can look up any individual in jail and every court record in Jefferson County Courts. The court records are controlled by the court clerk. The Jefferson County Clerk’s archives hold millions of pages of documents dating from 1836 to the present. You can view recent cases using the public portal available on the Jefferson County Clerk webpage. Images are available on computers in the clerk’s office but not online due to sensitive data being viewable on the document images.

You must register to see any criminal court records. Once you have registered, you will see the following information:

  • Name,
  • Date of Birth
  • Records #
  • Citation

You must list your occupation before any further information will be available (for example: attorney).
You can submit an open records request to the County Clerk. An open record is any record that must be accessible to the public. You can find documents online by submitting a request to search records. The returned documents will cost $1.00 for up to 10 pages of each document. You can also have a copy sent by email. These will be noncertified documents, costing $1.00 for each document up to 10 pages. The Clerk prints noncertified papers and copies printed in the Clerk’s office These pages are $1.00 per page.

Certified papers are paper copies with the Clerk’s seal affixed to the documents. These copies are $5.00 per document plus a fee for each page of $1.00 printed on paper. Deeds are signed legal documents transferring ownership of an asset to a new owner. More specifically, a deed is any legal document in writing that passes, affirms, or confirms an interest, property, or right that is signed, delivered, and filed.

To find property deeds, contact the Jefferson County Recorder of Deeds at PO Box 1151, Beaumont, Texas 77704. This is a centralized office for recording, indexing, and storing Jefferson County deeds.

A property deed costs between $40 and $200 for transferring real estate ownership from one party to another. The cost of the property deed will vary based on factors including where the property is located and how the property will be used.
